play make create

On Friday, we did Play Make Create. This is where the teacher reads you a story and you discuss the message in the story. Then you create something based on the message and also do a piece of writing. You can use materials or make a digital creation.  This week Mrs Craig Read the book: Stinkosaurus Saves Christmas

 It was about how even the most unlikely people can turn out to be a hero. I chose to make a plane to help Santa get the presents to the children.

 We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with min

Mosaic

We have been learning about using apps on our Chromebook to create images that look like mosaics or stained glass windows. We used Google Draw to make some and some people also used Sumopaint. Here is the image I made using Google Draw. I chose a  parrot       because.I have a pet parrot at home.

The magic boy that moved out of town.

 


Once upon a time there lived a boy named Joe who was a wizard. He lives in a town called Ozil. It was a very two-sided town. You were either very rich or very poor. There was a family of two, mum and son, and their names were Joe and Rose. They were very poor. They never had much money. 

 In the last few weeks we have been learning to write Narratives here is my work:

One day something came smashing through the walls. It was a horse. On top of the horse there was one of the king's shining armor fighters. He says, ‘how dare your walls stop me and my horse from galping out of town. Into the forest all you pests kiss my horse shoes in apology of fine”. Joe darts to think why we do not move out of town. 


After the horse leaves form their house Rose starts to break down and cry. Why oh why did I move here instead of ozih town ship there we would have lived a long happy life. Here it is so sad. Joe thinks hey mum we should move out of this dump with grandma is my say but oh will we get out the king hate people leaving and kill every bould ho tried I have an idea.


At midnight I will open the door to the kind demi rose thoughts run through her head how is my son going to do that it seems almost impossible she slowly asks her son how are you going to pull it off you see mum I am wizard put the king most not find out about it no son no son I am going to tall the king right now no mother if he finds out no! Go to your room and wait for me to get back. Joe thinks I can not give me away. This is a hard thing to do but my mum must not know. 


The Invasion Has Started!

 In the last few weeks we have been learning to write Narratives here is my work:

The invasion had begun. Faced with row upon row of white-clad storm troopers, the Jedis knew they had to act quickly…


Hey jumped up ready to defend there world but there base was falling apart all of there electrical systems were down it was running on very dodgy power every to seconds something would go wrong with the power they prepped there last running vehicle the outlander that would easily be abila to absolutely be able to annihilate the Troopers but It had no…  


GAS! This made every Jedi in the room scared for there's lives but they had one choice and one choice only left. It was an old two calendar. The only good thing about it was that it had 32 tracking missiles but they had no missiles.  One of the jedi jumped in and hit the key. It barely started, one more jti woke up and helped to put the truck into gear but then…


Crash oh no said the other jetis the truck its running away the bas cramped to the ground sadly kill them all the begin shooting at the old truck put multiple holes in it even one in the fuel tank one the jetis looked back and sees fuel leaking out of the side of the truck and thinks that's it the other jeti that that it jeti one say we can siphon siphon what.




Gas out of this old thing and into the gas tank of the new tank let get back quick this gas is leaking oh no they run her in 6 gear with bullets flying through the window I don't know if we are going to make it back to the base then boom they drive on top of the collapsed concrete to be continued  


little read riding hood

 In the last few weeks we have been learning to write Narratives here is my work:


Once Upon a time there lived a girl named Little Red Riding hood. One day her mother said to her that she had to deliver some cookies to her sick grandmother. They were chocolate chips. Her mum tells her that she must not eat any on the way. She says fine  and starts on her journey into the forest.


As she makes her first steps in she meets the wood cutter. He says, “hey little red riding hood be careful a wolf stole one of my axes this morning. I saw it running into the deep dark forest.”  Little red riding hood replies with a giggle, “I will.” She starts walking into the forest again.  


She comes to a cross road when Larry the bear says a wolf stole my money from my house. Little red riding hood says, “I am very sorry about that. I can not help that I have to get these cookies to my grandmother otherwise I would help. Wait, did he have an axe?” “No but there was home when I came back there was one thanks said little red riding hood stat to get worried but got thought it.



As little red riding hood's worry peck she comes out of the wood forest on to the canyon a old voice says I know your all alone little red riding hood     

Eye begins to wonder in her head began to think is this the end she starts to cry she slowly turn around oh it's just you the wood cut is running now and thunder rolls in blood start to drip from the trees canopy then sandly the wolf push him down the canyon then lighting hits and there a wolf standing there with a axe covered in fox blood I have been looking for you say the wolf.


The wolf slowly starts to wake towards the little red riding hood and she starts to run backward. “you won't be going very far, she turns around and starts going even faster. She

Small boat without an anchor

This week for Play, Make, Create we read a story called I am Peace and that was about emotions. We did a narrative for writing and we had to do it about you somewhere alone on a boat without an anchor. We also got to create something. I created a bubble popping anchor and that was mixed together with Design and Build. Here is my writing and anchor.


 A time when I felt like I was riding a wave with no anchor was when I was in a boat with my grandfather. The water was mabe 20m deep. We were fishing. The boat was around  9FT long and 3FT wide. We would be 100m of shore crystal clear water. I had cut no fish so I managed it 5hp outboard and we had oars just in case half a tank of two swot gas. No missing propeller blades to be honest was nervous about making it back because the sun was setting.


We start to jhead back to shore bye this time it was all light  the boat had a bit of power I felt the bow breaking the waves break a gest the waved and start to go of course I was now not paying atish and it was my first time driving rrrr I was scared in that moment my grand dad try to stop at the beach what I have done is run the the bow into the beach at 10 km hour i was in biased because everyone was looking at me


To fix this mistake the next night I got a good night's sleep` that night and didn't even catch a fish.

 I chose to create my very own creature, critter, monster or troll. ,something unexpected that the troll could live under and Create a wanted poster for the Troll, here is my work.

 On 22 June 2021 I got to go on a two day trip to Auckland to take part in the Grip Leadership Conference. Mrs Edwards, Mrs B and Shiah’s mum, Nardea were our drivers. We had a great time and the conference was really interesting.

miss C retirement

In Week 8, Term 2  our school librarian, Mrs C, retired. On her last day, we put on a  Book Character Parade. We dressed up in costumes like book characters and then we went making a book of go bye letter here is my page.

In Week 7,  we went outside and looked at the old wooden playground  to see if we could think how to write about it using personification. We tried to think about the old playground as if it were an old person. We wondered what the old playground might look like or do that was like an old person. Here is my work:

Because some were being used to much like blue and some happy like green and pink dose not get used.

I didn't poem

Seeds

 This week we have been doing seed writing here is my descriptive writing.


 


Seeds are little things that help a plant grow and populate. This seed has a coal black color and is 
shaped like a triangle or tooth. It is very hard like a brick and comes from old flax and smells like old plants. This seeds is brown and round like a wheel. They are very small and are very soft like a marshmallow.

 This seed comes for quinces and smells like fruit. A seed from a pumpkin is very long compared to the last two seeds and the color is like baby teeth. It is also as thin as paper and looks like a surfboard and smells like a pumpkin.


 This next seed is very worm-like. They are micro compared to the other three seeds and are like white worms. They come from the tip of a pine cone and they smell like tree sap.

Environmental Writing Feathers

 This week we have been learning about feathers and all the different places they can be from. You can have warming feathers, flying feathers and lots more. Here is some of my work.


This Feather is off a duck. It has a lot of different pieces and it's held together by a bunch of very thin wrap. It is very smooth to the touch and to the eye. It is very easy to tickle yourself with it. Smells like a duck. Makes a very slit ravaging sound when you rub it up against your ear. It is gray on the left side and black colour on the right, on the right angle it's white on the tip. It looks very straight and tidy on the wing. The feather has a little paper white stick in the middle and gets smaller as it goes up and gets to a point.

Coding of Cicada Lifecycle

We have coded our own unplugged program of the five stages of the cicada lifecycle. We have included some obstacles too.  The goal is to be able to have someone follow our codes to navigate our lifecycle by getting from stage 1 to stage 5 and avoiding the obstacles.  Here are some examples of our coded lifecycles.

Te Rehutai

 Te Rehutai  


This week we were excited to be learning a bit about Te Rehutai, the Team New Zealand AC 75 that has been sailing in the Waitemata Harbour.  Here is my information.



Emirates Team New Zealand Ac75.

Their skipper is Peter Burling, their boat is 75 feet long and 5.4 wide and

has a whopping 5m draft. It weighs a massive 7 ton and has aa monohull design. It is not a sailing boat

it's a flying boat! It has no keel instead it has foils. America's Cup is a big deal.

No doubt it can do 90km or 50 knots, which is almost the speed of a car going on the highway.

To get this speed they use the wind and grinders and they designed using computers.

Statistics learning

Over the last three weeks we have been learning about statistics in maths.


 I know that graph needs a a title, X and y axis labelled. I know how to write a statement about my graph.

We learnt how to use a spreadsheet to make a chart using our own data.

A graph or chart is easier to read than data in a table.
