Camp

Last week we went to camp at Cooper's Beach. We went fishing and we went on a water slide. I enjoyed it.

Basic Facts

We have been working on answering basic facts questions quickly and instantly.

I should be working on Stage 5. 

I passed Stage 4.

I am at Stage 5. I got 34 out of 60.

Great's and Grand's day 2019

Last Friday we had our Great's and Grand's day. My Nana and Grand dad came along. we did performances and dancing. we had a delicious morning Tea and played Games.

Garden to Table

We put our gloves on and then we headed to the garden to do some weeding. I pulled up massive weeds. We filled a whole wheelbarrow full of weeds. People were planting flowers to make it look pretty for Greats and Grands Day. Then we went to empty the wheelbarrow full of weeds. Then we planted some passion fruit plants. After that we had a picnic. Here are a couple of photos.

Balloon Hovercraft

B E G I N N I N G	TITLE	Balloon Hovercraft
	QUESTION	How does a hovercraft hover? air
	HYPOTHESIS	I predict that ...it will work, the balloon will hover across the table.

M I D D L E	EQUIPMENT  AND MATERIALS:	1 CD 1 balloon 1 Bottle Lid
	PROCEDURE:	Step 1:Using a hot glue gun, Glue the bottle cap over the CD hole.  Step 2: Bowl up the Balloon.When is fully inflated Twist end so no air comes out.  Step 3: Stretch The balloon over the end of the bottle cap.  Step 4:Open up the cup and placed the CD on the surface  Step 5:Un-Twist the balloon and let it go
	OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:	It hovered about 1 centimetre above the ground and lots of people called it a lawnmower. It darted around the table.

CONCLUSION:

The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface.  The air reduces the friction across the surface

Speeches

Did you know that machinery can be very, very  dangerous for us humans and animals. Machinery is what you drive in everyday and it has an engine that will run on petrol or diesel. What you drive to school in everyday is a machine. People have been run over before by machines. That's why we have to have safety around these dangerous Physical Machines that are used in Forestry to Tear down Trees.

Firstly, if you stand behind a car it could come back and hurt you very badly, you could end up in hospital. You could even die to the simple mistake. That is why you  Gotta think Before you act. It Just might give you a second chance at life. Thousands of people a year get killed in car crashes and that is a machine.  Forestry workers have been run over by the forestry equipment. Like heavy duty logging trucks and machines that pick up the logs and saw them down.

Secondly people wear orange things that glow in the lights of cars. It is for safety, so at night they don't get hit while working at the site.

Finally, did you know that people can only move houses through towns at night time? So it is very important to think about safety for the House Movers.

Safety is about keeping yourself good and safe from dangerous equipment. We can keep ourselves safe if we don't take risks. Don't listen to people that want you to do dangerous things. Stay safe around large machinery!

Maths Book

For maths this week we read a book called one is a snail ten  is a crab . we then worked in groups to create our own version. my book is called  1 is a slug and 10 is a squid.

Moon Rover Lander

For science we made a Moon rover lander using only a
paper cup, paper, cellotape and straws.  We were given the
task of making our Moon rover land softly onto our Moon
landscape so that our marsh-mellow astronauts did not fly
out.

What I like best about my Moon rover is the parachute

What I needed to modify on my Moon lander rover was we
made a new spring for the body.

One thing  I learned about landing on the Moon was it is
had to land on the Moon.

The Sun

This week for reading we read about the Sun and learnt how we use the Sun to help us.  Here is some facts we learnt about the Sun and Solar Power. Solar power is good because it is renewable, which means it will be around for a long time.

We also made a solar helicopter. We are waiting for a Sunny day to try it.

Basic Facts

These are my Basic Facts results for the end of Term One 1.
I am working on Stage 4. I got 46 out of 60.
I need to be on Stage 5 by the end of the year.

Coding with Scratch Jr

Today we made a maze with Scratch Jr.  My duck had to get to the duck pond.  I have made an algorithm with code to get my duck to the pond.  Look at my video to see my coding.

Bug Hotel

My class made a bug hotel. We made it in groups. The first group put a pallet outside and filled it with hay, bamboo, logs, newspaper and garden pots. I was in the second group. We made the bug hotel look better by adding more logs and pots and putting in more hay. We made the bug hotel to attract good bugs to our garden.

Today we wrote poems about living things. We had to use an adjective, noun and verb. Here is my published poem.

Maths

For maths we have been working in mixed ability groups to solve problems. The focus has been solving word problems using place value. We have to select the correct the correct strategy to solve the problem. I have chosen two problems to show you how I work them out.

We sketched our bean plants that we grew in class. We then wrote words around the outside to describe the bean plant. We had to use these words to write a piece of descriptive writing. We then cut out our picture and glued it on to your writing. Here is my writing.

We have been learning how to sketch our facial features.
We needed to put them in the right place on our face. For our background we
typed our full name and learned to copy and paste down the page.
